“I HAVE A DREAM…”, the famous speech by Dr Martin Luther King Jr. in 1963 sends shivers down most people’s spines and resonates loudly through our spirit. If you flick through the autobiography of a champion athlete, there is likely to be a section outlining the childhood dream they had of making it big in their chosen sport. For some, these aspirations end up becoming an unfulfilled, distant fantasy, whereas others go on to make the dream a reality. So what’s the key difference I hear you ask? Well there are, in fact, many elements at play, like skill level, physical prowess and mental toughness, however one common mistake made by most people who fall short of their dream is not writing it down and converting it into a workable plan. This leads to my definition that… A GOAL IS A WORKABLE DREAM WITH A DEADLINE!
