LIFE BALANCE - Examining the “Life Wheel”
The Life Wheel consists of the major elements of your life that influence your self esteem. If you were to prioritise
these elements and rate how you currently feel about each of them, how smooth or bumpy would your ride be? Furthermore,
where are you wanting to go? Answers to these questions will give us guidance for strategies to make your onward journey more
enjoyable.

COMMUNICATION – Outside and In!
This workshop examines the major elements
for effective communication. In particular, we address the importance of listening, how to give direct verbal information/feedback
and talk assertively, the use of tone and volume, and the awareness and regulation of non-verbal communication.
We also look at your “inner voice” and what you say to yourself. Strategies to regain
control of your headspace when negative thoughts creep in are explained.
|
| |
TIME MANAGEMENT
Priorities result from setting goals. Setting
goals is about planning and creating your future. Planning is about control. Control is managing your time and using it well!
We all face the same problem: too much to do, too little time to do it in. Therefore, we will look
at how you can WORK SMARTER by: prioritizing; setting time limits; creating a documented schedule and doing important tasks when you feel
at your best; minimizing time wasting activities; reviewing and improving how you already do day-to-day tasks; and utilizing periods
of “wasted” time.

YOUR “TRUE” MIRROR REFLECTION – Connecting self esteem
to more than just body image.
Although in this workshop we acknowledge that there is more to you than the
mirror reflection you see, for many individuals their body image is the key to their self esteem. Therefore, this workshop
encourages you to strive for a HEALTHY BODY IMAGE by: reflecting on all the wonderful things your body does for you; normalizing
the negativity you have about your body; providing strategies to not obsess about these criticisms; encouraging you to do
nice things for your body (e.g. clothes, exercise, massages); and surrounding yourself with others who know and express how
wonderful you are.

ANGER MANAGEMENT – Taming the beast within when your blood boils.
The outward display of anger is never pretty, is seldom productive, and almost always embarrassing. Fact: we all have the propensity to get mad,
be it on the sporting field, the road, or at the local supermarket. Unfortunately for some people, anger becomes a way of
life. Getting angry is not a bad thing,
in fact, it can sometimes help concentration and let’s you know when something you care about in your life needs to
be changed! However, it is what you do with it that can be judged as good or bad! Therefore, this workshop provides some insight
into: how anger is created (the Anger Iceberg); what it looks, sounds and feels like for you; what you learnt from significant
people in your life about anger; things that get you angry plus a battle plan for confronting your anger – REGNA (that
is, ANGER spelt backwards).

| |
TEAM DYNAMICS – Getting to know each other!
A collection of different activities designed to Energise, Break the Ice, and encourage teams
to Problem-Solve together can often be a great way to build team cohesion.
Another
workshop, called “WHAT ANIMALS ARE A PART OF MY TEAM?”, allows members
to appreciate the individual special qualities and differences amongst the group so they can identify and implement ways to
work better together.

|
DREAM, BELIEVE, ACHIEVE!
“Goals are workable
dreams with a deadline.”
Therefore this workshop helps you to: identify your Dream goal; “Chunk”
it down into bite-sized pieces; and then Profile the characteristics of the person who could achieve it. From all this information
we create a Plan of Action so you believe it is possible, and also address potential Hurdles that you may encounter.
|
| |
CONFIDENCE – Overcoming self doubt and fear.
The only thing that stands between you and what you
want to achieve is often merely the will to try it and the belief that it is possible. Therefore, this workshop outlines the
facts and myths about confidence, and emphasizes the importance of what’s between the ears in creating it. Specifically,
the power of self-talk and the mind-body-performance connection are outlined.
We will examine what you are saying to yourself at critical moments of performance, and normalize
the occurrence of negative thoughts. The key is not to give in to these negative thoughts, and instead smear them with some
positivity! Therefore, the REGNA refocus technique will be introduced so you will eventually be trained to cast self doubt away and plant the seed of self doubt in the oppositions mind by outwardly displaying
belief in your ability.

| |
IMAGINE what you could achieve if you put your mind to it!
What ever the mind sees,
the body will try to make a reality. So, in this workshop the skill of Imagery is explained and demonstrated using practical exercises. Furthermore, the different uses of this
mental tool (e.g. building confidence, relaxation, injury rehabilitation) will be identified. A guided imagery session will
also be conducted so you can assess your imagery preferences, and then particular practical exercises will be created for
you to implement.

| |
NERVES - How to remove
your hands from around your throat!!
This workshop educates you about the normality of the anxiety
response when you are challenged and how you specifically react. The concept of Choking is addressed and mental strategies
to reduce its negative effect on performance are outlined i.e. pre-performance routines, deep breathing exercises, affirmations,
and refocusing techniques.
|
| |
CONCENTRATION – Paying
attention to the right things at the right time! Considering
the number of performance cues and distractions (i.e. thoughts or external stimuli) that an individual is exposed to, it is
no wonder we see many performers lose concentration when it matters the most. This workshop is designed to: make you more
aware of your concentration; identify your helpful performance cues as well as the distracting ones; help you to narrow your
focus and also regain it when required. Training exercises to improve concentration will be highlighted as well as key points
for optimal concentration.

PREPARING FOR A BIG EVENT – A celebration of your training!
Do you know what to expect at this big event?
This workshop addresses the potential challenges or problems that may occur at the event (the “what if’s”)
and the mental strategies to combat them e.g. pre-performance routines. A Recipe for Performance Success, which looks at the 5
key mental ingredients, will also be outlined.
|
| |
CRISIS TIME - Getting your
ARSE back into gear!
Mental toughness
is reflected in the ability to remain completely focused and emotionally composed when you are faced with an intense situation.
Therefore, this workshop identifies potential pressure
situations and how you react to them physically, mentally, and emotionally. We then address the ARSE method so you know how
to manage the emotional response (e.g. deep breathing) and how to use what’s between the ears to find a way out of the
sticky situation. Therefore, an Action plan will be strategized and executed.

DEALING WITH THE AFTERMATH – Taking the next step in your sport or Overcoming
a setback!
Athletes/performers
throughout their careers are faced with the stressful experiences of trialing for selection. Furthermore, when they get their
opportunity to take the performance stage, they have a 50/50 chance of walking away as either a winner or a loser. Embracing
success and taking the next step in their craft OR bouncing back after a setback are two very different transitions that they,
therefore, need to be prepared for. This workshop outlines the steps that may help them successfully tackle both paths.

WORKSHOPS
for OFFICIALS
Decision Making Without officials we would not have
an event! Every decision an official makes has a strong impact on the event and it’s flow! Officiating is, therefore,
the art and science of decision making. This workshop examines the cognitive and social sides of this process and provides
strategies to become an even better officiator.
Dealing with Ugly Spectators! You are often the most hated person at the event! Unfortunately, some spectators
in the heat of competition have a difficult time keeping their emotions in check. Derogatory comments and actions directed
at the officials are inappropriate and often quite damaging. Therefore, this workshop looks at strategies to minimize such
potential conflict and how the official can personally deal with this hurtful experience.
